exports increase by more than 84% in H1-2022

Sales of phosphates and derivatives increased by 84.3% to reach more than 57.46 billion dirhams (MMDH) at the end of June 2022, according to the Foreign Exchange Office.

This development mainly follows the increase in sales of natural and chemical fertilizers (+19.72 billion dirhams) due to the price effect which more than doubled (8,656 dirhams/t at the end of June 2022 against only 3,671 dirhams/ton). T at the end of June 2021), explains the Office which has just published its monthly indicators of foreign trade for the month of June, noting that, on the other hand, the quantities exported fell by -5.1%.

Indeed, the Office indicates that exports of goods amounted to 215.07 billion dirhams at the end of June 2022 against 152.35 billion dirhams a year earlier, an increase of 41.2% or +62.72 billion dirhams, adding that this increase concerns all the sectors, at their head, phosphates and derivatives, the automobile sector, that of agriculture and agri-food and that of textiles and leather.

Thus, exports of the agriculture and agri-food sector stood at 46.28 billion dirhams at the end of June 2022 against 37.09 billion dirhams for the same period of the previous year, an increase of 24.8%. This change is explained by the simultaneous increase in sales of the food industry (+30.8% or +5.35 billion dirhams) and those of agriculture, forestry and hunting (+19.1% or +3.62 MDH).

For their part, textile and leather exports increased by 32.4% in the first six months of 2022. This development is attributable to the increase in sales of the main segments of this sector, in this case, ready-made clothing (+36.3% or +3.79 billion dirhams), knitwear (+27.4% or +927 million dirhams (MDH)) and shoes (+27.9% or +354 million dirhams) .
