Automotive sector exports reached 83.78 billion dirhams (MMDH) at the end of December 2021, up 15.9% compared to 2020, according to the Foreign Exchange Office.
This change is explained by the increase in sales in the construction segment (+35.2%), combined with the drop in those of wiring (-1.9%) and vehicle interiors and seats (-3, 1%), specifies the Office which has just published its monthly indicators of foreign trade for the month of December.
These indicators also show that the number of passenger cars exported rose by 18.6% to 358,745 cars at the end of December 2021.
Regarding sales of phosphates and derivatives, they amounted to 79.89 billion dirhams, up 57.1% compared to the previous year. This development follows the increase in sales of natural and chemical fertilizers (+19.05 billion dirhams) due to the price effect up by 71.4% (4.774 dirhams/t at the end of December 2021 against 2.785 dirhams/t at the end of December 2021). end of December 2020). The exported quantities of this product, for their part, decreased by 7.1%.
Sales of textiles and leather increased by 21.6% for the year 2021. This development is attributable to the increase in sales of ready-made clothing by 24.8% and those of knitwear by 29.5%.
For their part, sales in the “Agriculture and agri-food” sector improved by 9.2%. This development is due to a simultaneous increase in sales of the food industry by 3.59 billion dirhams and those of “Agriculture, forestry, hunting” by 1.97 billion dirhams.
On the other hand, the share of sales in this sector in total exports lost 2.9 points, falling from 23.8% at the end of December 2020 to 20.9% at the end of December 2021, notes the Office.
