The French Institute of Morocco, site of Tangier, presents from July 15 to September 15, 2023 the exhibition ” bursts of light by renowned artist Tahar Ben Jelloun. This exhibition is organized in partnership with the Tindouf Gallery. The artist will be present at the opening on Saturday July 15 at 7:30 p.m.
In a press release, the IF of Tangier indicates that the exhibition ” bursts of light offers visitors an immersion in the singular artistic universe of Tahar Ben Jelloun. Through his paintings and his writings, the artist explores the necessity of painting as an expression of his poetic and emotional vision. His works captivate with the richness of the colors and the evocation of joy often forgotten in the words that express pain, underlines the Institute.
Tahar Ben Jelloun, famous writer and winner of the Prix Goncourt in 1987 for his novel ” The Sand Child ” followed by ” The Sacred Night“, has always maintained a passion for painting and drawing since childhood.
His work has been exhibited in many prestigious galleries around the world, including the San Salvatore In Lauro Museum in Rome, the Tindouf Gallery in Tangier and Marrakech, the Le Grand Passage Gallery in Paris, the National Museum of Nancy, the Fesch Museum in Ajaccio, the Arab World Institute, the National Gallery of Dubai, and the Patrice Trigano Gallery.
Finally, in 2022, the Éditions Iconoclasts published his autobiography titled “ The color of the words“, exploring the connection between literature and painting.
For this exhibition, Tahar Ben Jelloun will present a selection of his most recent works, including paintings and drawings. Her artistic creations are inspired by her childhood memories, traditional carpets, stained glass windows and the expression of Moroccan craftsmanship.
