The Premier League finds itself shaken by a scandal of morals. An Everton footballer has been arrested on suspicion of child sexual abuse.
The player in question, whose identity has not been revealed, was arrested last Friday and questioned by police before being released on bail.
In a statement, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said: “ Officers arrested a man on Friday July 16, 2021 on suspicion of child sex offenses. He is free on bail by the police pending further investigations “. The footballer has been suspended by his club as the investigation continues.
Everton released the following statement on Monday evening, but declined to confirm whether this was the same player who had been arrested on suspicion of child sex offenses.
“Everton can confirm that they have suspended a first-team player pending a police investigation. The club will continue to support the authorities in their investigations and will not make any further statements at this time ”, can we read on the club press release.
The player was momentarily released on bail while police investigate the allegations further.
