End of mission for Shai Cohen at the Israel Liaison Office in Rabat

Shai Cohen announced on Saturday the end of his mission as head of Israel’s liaison office in Morocco. This departure paves the way for the return of David Govrin, announced last June.

On Twitter, Cohen announced his departure, but also paid tribute to the Kingdom and welcomed the positive developments in bilateral relations.

“I am ending my mission in Morocco today, and I take this opportunity to thank you after four months at the head of the Israeli liaison office in Rabat. During these months, I have been very proud of our bilateral achievements and the positive developments we are witnessing day after day in all areas,” he wrote.

Discussing Jewish history and heritage in the Kingdom, Cohen said that “Morocco is a very important country for Israel, not only in terms of our bilateral relations and the presence of Jewish history and heritage in the Kingdom, but also in terms of the Kingdom’s geopolitical position and the opportunities cooperation for the benefit of the whole region.

Note that David Govrin was recalled in September 2022 by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the basis of allegations of sexual harassment, concealment of gifts and nepotism.
