Eminent personalities hailed the Moroccan model in terms of promoting the values of peace, tolerance and interreligious dialogue, thanks to the leadership of King Mohammed VI.
Speaking at a conference on interreligious dialogue held recently in Palermo, the Archbishop of Rabat, Cardinal Cristobal Lopez Romero, praised the role of the Kingdom in interreligious dialogue, which “expresses itself daily through the coexistence and live it together”.
The mayor of Palermo, Leoluca Orlando, for his part, hailed the King’s initiatives in terms of promoting living together and cultural exchange.
“The Sovereign, in his capacity as Amir Al Mouminine, defends diversity, guarantees freedom of worship and promotes the noble values of Islam of the middle ground, coexistence and living together”, affirmed, at the same time, the Ambassador of the Kingdom to the Holy See and the Sovereign Order of Malta, Rajae Naji Mekkaoui.
The Moroccan diplomat highlighted the Kingdom’s experience in restructuring the religious field, which has given rise to “the interest of several countries”highlighting the major role played by the Sovereign in promoting peace in several regions of the world, particularly in Africa and the Middle East.
Rajae Naji Mekkaoui thus highlighted the active solidarity of the Sovereign during the Covid-19 pandemic with regard to several countries of different faiths by sending them aid of all kinds, underlining the Kingdom’s commitment and initiatives in the area of migration.
This conference was organized by the regional office for ecumenism and interreligious dialogue of the Sicilian Episcopal Conference, in collaboration with the Pontifical Faculty of Theology of Sicily.
