Morocco apparently did not come out of the hostel. If the indicators appear green in recent months, it is only an illusion. The head of government, Saad Eddine El Otmani, evokes a third wave of pandemic.
Indeed, in a tweet published this Saturday, March 27 on his official account, the head of government warned Moroccans against a third wave of the pandemic. This announcement comes following the increase in the number of cases in intensive care in recent days, specifies El Otmani.
“In recent days, the number of Covid_19 cases has relatively increased and the number of severe cases requiring resuscitation has increased to 72 in the past 24 hours. This is an indicator that everyone should pay attention to, so as not to experience a third wave“, Wrote the head of government.

Despite the early acceleration of the pace of anti-covid vaccination in Morocco, which made it possible to vaccinate more than 4 million citizens (1st and 2nd doses), i.e. more than 11% of the population, the country is not immune to a third wave in fact, with the spread in Europe, and in other continents, of the new variants which are proving to be more dangerous and more contagious. Moreover, several European countries are in the process of reconfiguring precisely following this third wave.
With this risk of a third wave in Morocco, which turns out to be very likely when citizens expected an easing of restriction measures after Ramadan, the Kingdom must as quickly as possible obtain a sufficient quantity of vaccines and continue its vaccination campaign, which has been in slow motion since mid-March. According to specialists, the much hoped-for collective immunity can only be achieved by vaccinating 80% of the population, and at the same time respecting barrier measures.
