Egypt hands over presidency Arab League Council at permanent delegate level to MoroccoOn Monday, Egypt handed over the presidency of the Council of the League of Arab States at permanent delegate level to Morocco. In a speech, Ambassador Mohamed Arfi, Permanent Representative of Egypt to the Arab League, announced the conclusion of the work of the 159th ordinary session of the Council and handed over to the representative of Morocco, Ambassador Ahmed Tazi, the presidency of the Council’s work during its new session.
In his address, Ahmed Tazi said that Morocco’s assumption of the presidency of the current session coincided with two main events: preparations for the Arab Summit on Economic and Social Development, scheduled to take place in Mauritania in November, and preparations for the next Arab Summit, to be hosted by Bahrain.
He pointed out that the session of the Council of the League is also being held in the light of a number of decisions, projects and documents that have been prepared and will be submitted to the Council of the League at ministerial level.
The Moroccan diplomat expressed his aspiration that Morocco’s presidency of this session would give real impetus to the issues and dossiers to be tackled.
In this sense, he called for support for the presidency in carrying out its tasks.
