In the aftermath of a disappointing draw against Gabon, in the context of the qualifiers for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, the coach of the Pharaohs of Egypt, Hossam al-Badri, was dismissed.
In a laconic statement published this Monday on social networks, the Egyptian Football Federation, said that “the association decided, during an emergency meeting (…), to thank the coaches and the technical staff for their services within the selection ”.
For his part, A Badri had assured the press on Sunday evening that he would not resign. In this sense, he argued that “under his mandate, the Pharaohs managed to qualify for the African Cup of Nations scheduled for January in Cameroon”.
The sluggish draw (1-1) against Gabon, obtained in the last minutes of the match, and the forceps victory (1-0) against Angola last Wednesday, had led to many criticisms on social networks.
Despite this draw, Egypt is still the leader of its group with four points, followed by Libya.
