The fire causing the strong explosion recorded in the Jebel Ali port, the main port of the city of Dubai, has been fully contained, announced the Dubai police chief. The fire caused no casualties.
On Wednesday evening around midnight, a large explosion was felt several meters around by residents after a container caught fire.
The container was aboard a commercial vessel docked at the port of Jebel Ali, according to official sources. The chief of police in Dubai indicated that the fire, having taken place in a small vessel, was completely brought under control.
“A fire caused by an explosion in a container aboard a ship at the port of Jebel Ali has been brought under control, no casualties have been reported,” the official UAE agency WAM said on Twitter, adding the video showing water jets to extinguish the fire.
