Dijana Djokovic, mother of world No. 1 tennis player, Novak Djokovic commented on the latest Australian court decision to order the tennis player’s release from the detention center where he was placed upon his arrival in Melbourne. She said it was “the biggest victory of her career (Novak)”.
Welcoming this decision, she said at a press conference in Belgrade: “For me, it’s the biggest victory of his career, bigger than all the Grand Slams” he has won.
In turn, the Serbian press welcomed, Monday, “the judicial victory” of Novak Djokovic in Australia.
“To the great happiness of all those who took to the streets, who, in all corners of the world, offered their support, Novak Djokovic won in Australia, as he always does”, underlined the daily “Blic” in its latest edition online.
Nine-time winner of the Australian Open, Djokovic “beat Australia”, supported “Vecernje Novosti”, recalling however that “nothing is finished”, since the Australian government can still decide the expulsion of the Serbian player who wants to enter the country and play the Australian Open (January 17-30) without being vaccinated against Covid-19.
“Theoretically, the Australian state can again examine the visa application and cancel it again, but the problem lies in the fact that since Thursday the circumstances have not changed”, said lawyer Blazo Nedic, specialist of Anglo-Saxon law, on the airwaves of national television (RTS).
Note that Djokovic won a victory on Monday in his duel against the Australian authorities: a judge ordered his release from the detention center in which he had been placed on his arrival in the country, where the world No.1 wants to enter without being vaccinated against Covid-19.
