Direction Fiorentina for Abdelhamid Sabiri

The Moroccan international attacking midfielder, who played for Sampdoria in Genoa and showed his advantage with the Atlas Lions in Qatar, should join Florence in the last minutes of the transfer window, announces Gianluca Di Marzio.

Italian club Fiorentina formalized on Tuesday the signing of Moroccan attacking midfielder Abdelhamid Sabiri, who will remain on loan at Sampdoria until the end of the current season. “The operation is complete,” wrote the Viola on social networks, specifying that the Moroccan international, now under contract until 2026, will join Fiorentina from next summer.

Born in Goulmima, in eastern Morocco, the 26-year-old has notably worn Huddersfield and Nürnberg jerseys during his career. He also participated in the last World Cup with the Atlas Lions, finishing in fourth place. Since his performance in Qatar, where he delivered one of the assists that allowed Morocco to win against Belgium, Sabiri was on the radar of several European clubs, including Real Betis and Leeds United.

With the Genoa club, he has played 13 Italian league matches this season and scored one goal.
