The creation of this new specialized entity is part of the improvement of the skills of specialized regional services to respond operationally to security challenges and threats related to violent crime and terrorism, in particular.
For Naoufal Ouahabi, a police officer in the central explosives department, the setting up of this unit at the Rabat-Salé-Témara-Khémisset police headquarters comes in the wake of a major project launched by the DGSN on the establishment of Regional Brigades of Artificers with the aim of responding to the various security issues, led by threats linked to terrorism and violent crimes.
Significant material and technical resources have been made available to this structure, he said, adding that highly qualified human resources have been deployed to enable this brigade to accomplish its missions in the best conditions. possible.
In this sense, he noted that this Brigade’s mission is to detect suspicious or explosive objects and materials, to neutralize home-made explosive devices that could endanger the safety of citizens and also to contribute to the security of large political, cultural and sporting events.
It also involves providing technical and field support to judicial inquiries and investigations, through the detection and necessary analysis of explosive objects and materials, and contributing effectively and efficiently to dealing with to all the threats posed by explosive products, he continued.
The new brigade is made up of specialized security teams who have benefited, over several weeks, from high-level training sessions in the field of explosives, as well as in the detection and proactive identification of suspicious materials.
This unit has been equipped with logistical means equipped with the latest generation technology, including robots and highly developed equipment used to detect and neutralize explosives remotely while guaranteeing the safety of police officers and citizens.
