Deposits with banks recorded, at the end of November 2021, an annual increase of 7.2% to stand at 1.046 billion dirhams (billion dirhams), according to the dashboard “bank loans and deposits” of Bank Al -Maghrib (BAM).
Household deposits stood at MAD 774.1 billion, an annual increase of 3.9% with MAD 185.2 billion held by Moroccans residing abroad (MRE), while deposits from private companies increased by 9 , 9% to 161.9 billion dirhams, specifies the Central Bank.
The interest rates on 6-month and 12-month term deposits recorded increases of 2 basis points and 30 points at the end of November 2021 to stand at 2.15% and 2 respectively, 51%. For savings accounts, their minimum rate of return was set at 1.05% for the first half of 2022, an increase of 2 basis points compared to the previous half.
