As part of the parallel humanitarian activities of the combined Moroccan-American exercise “African Lion 2023”, which is held in accordance with the High Instructions of His Majesty the King, Supreme Chief and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces ( FAR), a medical-surgical field hospital was deployed at the level of the local authority of Rasmouka (Province of Tiznit).
Mobilizing medical teams made up of doctors and nurses from the FAR and the American Army, this hospital, which has been operational since May 30, offers medical and surgical services for the benefit of local populations, said Doctor Colonel Salah Eddine Hassouna, Chief Medical Officer of the Field Hospital.
This multidisciplinary health structure includes in particular 02 operating theaters, hospitalization units with a capacity of 30 expandable beds, 06 dental units, a radiology unit, a sterilization unit, a laboratory, a pharmacy and a social module, a-t -he said in a statement to MAP.
The service within this hospital is provided by a mixed Moroccan-American multidisciplinary medical and paramedical staff composed of 125 members, a support and administration team of 112 members, as well as 13 social workers.
This medico-surgical field hospital has received until Monday, 7,800 patients who have benefited from more than 24,500 medico-surgical services.
It also carried out 300 surgical operations, distributed 1,450 pairs of glasses and issued 7,800 prescriptions.
“African Lion” is a combined joint exercise organized each year by the FAR and the American Armed Forces.
This exercise, which will continue until June 16, in seven regions of Morocco, namely: Agadir, Tan-Tan, Mehbes, Tiznit, Kenitra, Benguerir and Tifnit, remains an annual meeting which contributes to consolidating Moroccan military cooperation. and also to strengthen the exchange between the armed forces of different countries in order to promote security and stability in the region.
