Anger and indignation. These are the reactions observed by several social actors on social networks, following the work launched at the Casablanca mosque ” Assuna, Commonly known as ” Masjid Assuna “.

Association ” Casamemoire ” denounced the demolition of part of the mosque built in 1968 by the architect of the late Mohammed V, Émile Duhon. In a statement to MoroccoLatestNews, an official source within the Directorate of Habous and Islamic Affairs of the Casablanca-Settat region, denied that the renovations, including the mosque “Assuna” is witness, aim to attack its architectural form or others.

According to the same source, the work in progress in the mosque concerns the women’s pavilion, which has long needed renovations, as it has become a threat to the women who visit it.

The same source pointed out that this work was supposed to be carried out for a long time by the services of the Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs. But the budget allocated for the work was delayed, specifies our source, assuring that “ these renovations will preserve the architecture of the mosque which will not undergo any change “.
