The former Portuguese international, Deco, will be the new sporting director of FC Barcelona after the departure of Jordi Cruyff.
“Unfortunately, the departure of Jordi Cruyff is a great loss, but Deco is coming,” FC Barcelona vice-president Rafa Yuste announced on Saturday evening in statements to the press after the match between the Catalan team to Real Sociedad and which ended with a score of 1-2 for the Basques.
Deco, 45, has been in charge of Barça in the Portuguese-speaking transfer window for two years.
He contributed to the transfers of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Raphinha, for whom he is the agent.
Besides, the Catalans’ vice-president has also reiterated his wish to see Leo Messi return to Barcelona next season.
“We would all like Leo to come back to Barcelona,” he said.
“I want him back for all he gave to the club and for the great relationship we’ve always had. Stories that go well should end well. Leo will decide and if he comes we will all be very happy,” Yuste concluded.
