The unemployment rate fell by 0.4 points at the national level at the end of last June, said Wednesday in Rabat, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah Alaoui.
Nadia Fettah Alaoui, who presented before the Committee on Finance and Economic Development in the House of Representatives a presentation on “the execution of the 2022 Budget and the three-year budget programming 2023-2025”, specified that the unemployment rate in urban areas fell by 0.8 point to 16.3% and by 0.2 point to 5.1% in rural areas. He added that unemployment among young people aged 25 to 34 in urban areas fell by 0.9 points to 25% and among graduates in urban areas, by 0.9 points to 20.8%.
According to the Minister, the unemployment rate recorded during this period remains, however, 1.6 points higher than the level recorded for the same period in 2020, just before the outbreak of the crisis.
In this context, the minister highlighted the loss of 183,000 jobs in the agriculture, forestry and fishing sectors, compared to the creation of 127,000 jobs in the service, construction, public works and industry.
