The Chaâbi Diva, Hajja Hamdaoui, bowed out on Monday, April 5 at Cheikh Zayd hospital in Rabat. The famous chaâbi singer bowed out around one in the morning, at the age of 91.
Hajja Hamdaouia, who had been seriously ill for a while, was admitted in serious condition to Sheikh Zayed’s intensive care unit on April 1. She had suffered from chronic anemia for several years.
Suffering, Hamdaoui had withdrawn from the scene a few years ago, giving way to a generation which took up its hits in different ways. However, no one knew how to reproduce her songs as she did with her famous Bendir.
Considered a legend of chaâbi in Morocco with his essential songs ” Daba Yji ‘,’ Jiti Majiti ‘, and the list is long, Hajja Hamdaouia announced in 2020 the transfer of all the rights to her immense repertoire to singer Xena Aouita, daughter of Said Aouita.
The deceased will be buried in the Achouhada cemetery in Casablanca.
