Death of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi

Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi died on Monday at the age of 86 following an illness.

In recent years, the man the Italians nicknamed “il Cavaliere”, had suffered from a number of health problems. In particular, he had been operated on in 2016 for heart problems. He had also been hospitalized in April 2021 for more than three weeks for “sequelae of Covid-19” which he had contracted in September 2020.

It should be noted that Silvio Berlusconi had been chairman of the council three times (from May to December 1994, from 2001 to 2006, finally from 2008 to 2011), parliamentarian from 1994 to 2013, then from the fall of 2022 to his death, leader of the Italian right for two decades, media entrepreneur, and owner of the AC Milan football club.
