Could Cristiano Ronaldo be set to make a sensational return to his former club Real Madrid? In a context of growing uncertainty about his future at his current club, Manchester United who recently appointed Erik ten Hag as their new coach, the Portuguese star is announced with insistence on the side of the Merengues.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined Manchester United from Juventus last summer, was brilliant continuing to be one of the most prolific goalscorers in world football and once again proved his worth with his goalscoring heroism for United in all competitions.

The 37-year-old striker has so far scored 23 goals for United in all competitions despite the Red Devils going through a tough time this season. The Portuguese icon, considered one of the greatest footballers of all time, scored 17 Premier League goals and was consistent when fit.

According to a report by Mirror.co.uk, the exploits of the so-called CR7 in the Premier League have impressed Real Madrid, who want the Portuguese striker to return to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Ronaldo, who is one of the greatest to ever play for Real Madrid, left the Spanish club to sign for Juventus in 2018, ending a glorious era.

Real Madrid want a reunion with Ronaldo as they believe the Portuguese superstar is guaranteeing La Liga goals despite his age.

Ronaldo’s future is uncertain at Man United with the arrival of new manager Ten Haag. The Dutchman would like to build a team based on youth and energy and veteran striker Ronaldo might not fit the bill for him at Old Trafford.

However, Ronaldo’s goalscoring tally for United this season proves he can still be an asset to any top club in the world.

Manchester United are currently ranked sixth in the Premier League with 55 points from 35 appearances and are expected to finish outside the top four this season. The Red Devils will certainly not participate in the Champions League next season.
