From mid-June, the Moroccan police will use the BolaWrap device, a sophisticated technique which will now be used during arrests and in cases of refusal to comply.
A press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), published this Thursday, June 9, explains that the BolaWrap has the shape of a box or a mobile phone, which releases a Kevlar strap which wraps around the legs or torso of fleeing individuals and neutralizes them in seconds.
This new technique acquired by the DGSN, and which is used by the police of several Western countries, the BolaWrap, is presented as a kind of electronic lasso which replaces bullets, rubber bullets and other tear gas.
Initially tested in the United States, the BolaWrap was the subject of technical and field tests by the DGSN at the level of the prefectures of Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier and Fez, in addition to tests carried out at the level of the BNPJ. .
the use of BolaWrap will be gradually generalized in Morocco, further specifies the DGSN.
