Morocco has recorded 12,039 new cases carrying the coronavirus in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases identified at the national level since the start of the epidemic to 665,325.
Currently, the total of active cases increases to 65,196, among them, 1,472 cases are in serious condition. In terms of national incidence, the rate rises to 1,825.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
Over the last 24 hours, the incidence has reached 32.8 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and the number of people fully vaccinated (having received the first and second dose) has reached 10,733,482 while those having received the first dose of vaccine is estimated at 14,809,114 according to the Department of Health.
As for the geographical distribution of new cases identified in Morocco in the last 24 hours, it is the region of Casablanca-Settat which comes first with 3,613 new infections. The city of Casablanca alone concentrates 2,625 of the cases identified on Thursday and 21 deaths. It is followed by the city of Mohammadia 280 cases, Nouaceur 158, Berrechid 143, El Jadida 137, Sidi Bennour 78, Benslimane 68, Settat 65, Médiouna 59.
Second region in the ranking, the region of Souss – Massa which has accumulated 1,700 new infections including 750 in Agadir Ida Ou Tanane, 439 in Inezgane-Ait Melloul, 184 in Taroudant, 169 in Tiznit, 135 in Chtouka Ait Baha, 23 in Tata.
Still above the 1000 infections mark, two regions follow, namely Marrakech-Safi and Rabat – Salé-Kenitra, which respectively accumulate 1,413 and 1,228 cases carrying the virus. These are 645 cases in Marrakech, 183, in Rehamna, 133 in El Kelâa des Sraghna, 125 in Chichaoua, 105 in Safi, 87 in Essaouira, 78 in Youssoufia, 57 in Al Haouz, and 448 infections in Salé, 342 in Rabat, 169 in Skhirat-Témara, 112 in Khemisset, 91 in Kénitra, 22 in Sidi Kacem and Sidi Slimane.
For its part, the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma region counted 974 new cases carrying the virus including 301 in Tanger-Assilah, 165 in Tetouan, 139 in Al Hoceïma, 136 in M’diq-Fnidek, 102 in Ouezzane, 57 in Chefchaouen, 51 in Larache and 23 in Fahs Anjra. Next, the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region with 881 cases (304 in Béni Mellal, 170 in Fqih Ben Salah, 158 in Azilal, 150 in Khouribga and 99 in Khénifra).
In addition, 707 infections were recorded in Drâa-Tafilalet including 367 in Ouarzazate, 115 in Midelt, 112 in Tinghir, 72 in Zagora and 41 in Errachidia, while the Oriental region recorded 558 infections including 178 in Oujda-Angad , 164 in Nador, 86 in Berkane, 70 in Driouch, 33 in Taourirt, 15 in Figuig, 10 in Jerada and 2 in Guercif.
Below the 500 case mark, the region of Guelmim-Oued Noun shows a toll of 421 new people affected by the coronavirus (215 in Guelmim, 160 in Sidi Ifni, 44 in Tan Tan and 6 in Assa Zag) and the region of Fès-Meknes shows 337 cases including 97 in Fès, 89 in Meknes, 37 in Taounate, 36 in Taza, 27 in Sefrou, 22 in El Hajeb, 15 in Boulemane, 8 in Moulay Yaacoub and 6 in Ifrane.
Finally, the regions of Laâyoune-Es Sakia El Hamra identified respectively 122 cases (72 in Laâyoune, 32 in Boujdour and 18 in Tarfaya) and 85 cases for the region of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (83 in Oued Eddahab and 2 in Aousserd).
