After two years of shutdown due to the health crisis linked to the coronavirus pandemic, compulsory military service is back in the Kingdom.
The information was confirmed by the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of the National Defense Administration, Abdellatif Loudiyi.
During the presentation to the House of Representatives of the budget of the National Defense Administration under the 2022 PLF, Loudiyi indeed revealed that in this context, new units will be created and distributed in the southern provinces of the Kingdom. They will also be reserved for the period of specialization in various other trades, susceptible to subsequent integration into the labor market.
The next contingent will have 20,000 conscripts, distributed among the four training centers that had previously hosted the previous contingent, he said.
Loudiyi also indicated that the Ministry of the Interior is preparing to begin the operation of identifying the conscripts who will constitute the contingent 37 and to proceed with their distribution, and this after the agreement of King Mohammed VI, Supreme Chief and Chief of Staff. General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, with a view to their integration into compulsory military service in 2022.
