A work plan for the year 2021 was signed on April 6 between Amina Bouayach, President of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH) and Luis Mora, Representative of UNFPA, United Nations Population Fund. This plan is part of the partnership between the two parties aimed at promoting the rights of women and girls, including the rights to sexual and reproductive health in Morocco.
In a press release, UNFPA indicates that this partnership with the CNDH revolves around three main axes namely the promotion of sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR), advocacy to fight against child marriage and for the implementation of the recommendations of international instruments related to the SRHR.
“This partnership reflects our conviction that the development of the rights of women and girls remains dependent, in general, on perseverance in efforts to shake the web of inequalities and to anchor the values of equality in society while by ensuring sustained mobilization of all stakeholders, and by ensuring continuous capacity building ” declared on this occasion Amina Bouayach, President of CNDH, quoted in the press release.
For his part, Luis Mora, Representative of the Fund, quoted in the press release, assured that “the‘UNFPA supports Morocco’s orientation to promote the rights of women and girls, and in particular their rights to sexual and reproductive health. Considering them as a prerequisite for the achievement of Sustainable Development, UNFPA will work with the CNDH to support its efforts in capacity building and social mobilization in order to ensure rights and choices for all and everywhere. “.
