Club World Cup emblem unveiled

The emblem of the Club World Cup, scheduled for February 1 to 11 in Morocco, has been unveiled, the International Football Federation (FIFA) announced on Thursday.

“The official emblem of the FIFA Club World Cup (Morocco 2022) has been unveiled on the eve of the draw for the event, which will take place this Friday,” writes the world football governing body on its official website. “The official emblem of this competition, which returns to Morocco for the first time since 2014, symbolizes the prestige inherent in the highest level of world club football.

It is inspired by the sparkling trophy held up every year by the world champion club,” the same source continues, adding that the golden pedestal symbolizes the unshakable foundations of football, while the curved navy blue stripes reflect the pillars of the trophy, which evoke the different continents represented. This structure carries a golden ball, the embodiment of the glory that awaits the winners of the Club World Cup, notes FIFA.

The draw ceremony for this edition will take place this Friday at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Salé, from 12:00 p.m. The most capped player in the history of the Moroccan selection, Nourredine Naybet, will officiate as an assistant.

Seven clubs will participate in this edition, namely Wydad Casablanca, winner of the CAF Champions League 2021/22, Al Hilal SFC (Saudi Arabia), winner of the AFC Champions League 2021, Al Ahly of Egypt, CAF Champions League finalists and Seattle Sounders FC (USA), winners of the 2022 CONCACAF Champions League. It is also the Brazilian formation of CR Flamengo, winners of the Copa Libertadores 2022, of Auckland City FC (New Zealand), winner of the 2022 OFC (Oceania Football Confederation) Champions League in addition to Real Madrid, winner of the 2022 UEFA Champions League.
