Morocco’s Head of House of Councillors Naam Mayara is anticipated to travel to Tel Aviv in September, following an official invitation from Israeli Knesset Speaker Amir Ohna.
“Amir Ohana received an official confirmation from his counterpart Mayara, regarding the visit to Tel Aviv next September,” according to an official MoroccoLatestNews source in the Israeli Knesset.
This visit will improve the two countries’ parliamentary collaboration, which is in line with the development of bilateral ties between Rabat and Tel Aviv in all aspects.
This is the second official visit by a high-ranking Moroccan official to Tel Aviv. Mohamed Benawali, Commander of the Royal Moroccan Artillery visited Israel in February of last year.
The visit is also a part of a Middle Eastern tour that will also include Palestine and other nations, according to MoroccoLatestNews sources.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will visit Morocco soon as part of a diplomatic journey, in response to a formal invitation from King Mohammed VI.
Although a few members of Netanyahu’s cabinet have already traveled to Morocco to discuss cooperation, this is his first official trip.
The number of Moroccan tourists to Israel increased by 66% in the first half of this year, as more than 2,000 Moroccans traveled to Israel.
Additionally, trade between Morocco and Israel reached $6 million in June alone. In the first half of the year, trade between the two countries increased significantly, reaching $38.5 million, a 96% increase from the same period previous year.
