CDG organized a workshop on the theme “The challenges and prospects of the consignment activity”

As part of the Caisses de Dépôt Forum and the CDG International Program for Africa, CDG organized, on June 28 and 29, 2022 in Rabat, a workshop for economic and financial actors from the African continent.

The first edition of this workshop was devoted this year to consignments with the theme “The challenges and prospects of the consignment activity” and saw the participation of all the Caisses de dépôt members of the Forum, namely 11 Caisses de dépôt and 2 public debt redemption funds for Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea.

Emphasis was placed on the different technical dimensions of consignments as an escrow allowing funds and securities to be “deposited” so that they are returned to their beneficiaries or entitled parties through legal or regulatory provisions, judicial decisions , administrative or contracts. The objective of the workshop is to approve its operating framework and to prepare a repository of consignments for the Caisses de Dépôt.

It should be noted that this workshop, the first stage of a process of permanent consultation between the various funds, also saw the participation of Bank Al Maghrib, the General Treasury of the Kingdom, the Directorate of the Treasury and External Finances and the Insurance and Social Welfare Supervisory Authority.

The ambition is to initiate, and ultimately, to foster exchanges between the teams of the Group’s various partners on the key aspects of the daily practice of the consignment activity within our organisations.

About the “International CDG Program for Africa”

the “CDG International Program for Africa” is an initiative launched by CDG, aiming to highlight the economic model of “Caisse de Dépôt”, launched by the General Manager of CDG in September 2017. It is a specific annual meeting of its kind with regard to the diversity of participants and the themes that are discussed. It is also a platform to promote the exchange of experiences, dialogue and consultation between economic and financial players on the African continent “public and private” around Caisse de Dépôt’s economic model as a collection, management and transformation of savings to serve the economic and social development of African countries.

This Programme, which is in its sixth edition, is an opportunity to reaffirm the “African vocation” of the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion which, in application of the guidelines of His Majesty the King, May God Assist Him, makes it a major focus of its strategic vision and external cooperation.
