The Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Mohamed Sadiki, was this Wednesday, the guest of the MAP Forum. In particular, he asserted that the cattle imported by Morocco from Brazil are among the best breeds marketed worldwide.

It is the Brazilian cattle breed “Nélore”, which is one of the best cattle breeds in the world, he said, noting that the cattle import measure is mainly aimed at ensuring normal market supply. national level and the stability of red meat prices for consumers.

In the same vein, the Minister noted that the preservation of the stability of red meat prices requires the protection of national livestock intended for slaughter, through the use of imports. Referring to the quality of imported cattle, the Minister assured that they have been subjected to a rigorous control process imposed by the National Office for Sanitary Safety of Food Products (ONSSA), adding that this breed is of high quality and has excellent features.

In addition, Sadiki said that Brazil exports nearly one million head of cattle per year, and nearly 2.4 million meat. During his presentation, the Minister presented the measures planned under the “Green Generation” strategy, which consolidates the achievements of the Green Morocco Plan, particularly in terms of growth and sustainability of the agricultural sector.

He also presented the objectives set by this ambitious strategy with a view to ensuring food sovereignty and security in harmony with the potential offered by the regions and territories of the Kingdom.
