Half of the exports of Moroccan handicrafts go through the economic capital which has positioned itself at the top of the cities exporting these products in the first quarter of 2021 in front of Marrakech, indicates Monday the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts, Air Transport and the social economy.
“In terms of shares in the turnover (turnover) for exports, the main exporting centers of Moroccan artisanal products remain Casablanca and Marrakech, with half of exports passing through Casablanca (50%) and 34% by the city ocher, ”said the ministry in a press release.
The cities of Fez and Tangier made respective contributions of 7% and 5% during this period, adds the same source.
In terms of evolution, it is the cities with a small contribution in the overall export turnover that stood out during Q1-2021, notes the ministry, noting that the exports of crafts passing through the city of Essaouira recorded a turnover 11 times greater, ahead of Agadir and Kénitra with export turnover 7 times and 5 times higher than those recorded during the same period of 2020.
Marrakesh, Rabat and Casablanca, for their part, achieved lower performances, but which remain notable through respective growth rates of 67%, 29% and 28%.
