Casablanca Stock Exchange: A week in the green

The Casablanca Stock Exchange closed the week of November 14 to 17, 2022 in the green, its main index, the Masi, gaining 4.51% to 10,821.89 points.

The Morocco Stock Index 20 (MSI20), which reflects the price performance of the 20 most liquid companies, strengthened by 5.71% to 871.85 points and the Casablanca ESG 10, benchmark index Environment, Social and Governance (ESG), took 6.35% to 817.99 points. Since the start of the year, Masi, MSI20 and Casablanca ESG 10 have posted negative performances of -18.99%, -19.70% and -18.04% respectively.

At the end of this week, 11 sectors of the 23 represented on the Casablanca coast ended up, 11 down, while only one sector was stable. The telecommunications sector achieved the best performance (10.81%), ahead of banks (6.97%) and transport services (6.50%). On the losing side, the engineering and industrial capital goods sector (-7.40%) suffered the biggest decline of the week, followed by holding companies (-2.19%) and electricity. (-1.95%).

The overall volume of trade amounted to more than 261.8 million dirhams (MDH), including 261.67 MDH made on the central market (shares) and 132,463 dirhams on the transfer market.

On the podium of the most active stocks are Itissalat Al-Maghrib with a transaction volume of 523.2 MDH, Attijariwafa Bank (445.3 MDH) and Label Vie (333.6 MDH).

Market capitalization amounted to 562.17 billion dirhams.

On the securities side, the best performances of the week were the work of Itissalat Al-Maghrib (10.31%), Attijariwafa Bank (8.58%), BCP (8.10%), Ciments du Maroc (7.36 %) and Sonasid (6.84%).

On the other hand, the biggest drops were recorded by Delattre Levivier Maroc (-15.34%), Maghreb Oxygène (-9.14%), Salafin (-5.16%), CIH (-4.95% ) and Sanlam Morocco (-2.90%).
