The Casablanca Stock Exchange ended the week from December 13 to 17, 2021 down, its main index, the Masi, yielding 0.27% to 13,303.73 points.
The Morocco Stock Index 20 (MSI20), which reflects the price performance of the 20 most liquid companies listed in Casablanca, for its part, dropped 0.37% to 1,084.14 points, while the Madex, an index compact made up of stocks quoted on a continuous basis, lost 0.31% to 10,776.17 points.
Regarding the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) “Casablanca ESG 10” benchmark, it lost 0.42% to 996.25 points. On the sectoral level, 10 sectors of the 24 represented at the coast ended the week on a negative note, 13 closed higher while another remained stable.
The “Forestry and Paper” index fell 13.83%, the biggest drop of the week, followed by “Real Estate” (-4.12%) and “Transport” (-2.86 %). On the upside, the “Chemicals” sector achieved the best performance with a gain of 1.80%, ahead of the “Engineering and industrial capital goods” sector (+ 1.66%).
In the process, the overall volume of trade exceeded 6.92 billion dirhams (billion dirhams). Market capitalization stood at over 689.1 billion dirhams. At individual values, TGCC SA, DELATTRE LEVIVIER MAROC and IB MAROC.COM posted the strongest increases of the week with respectively + 20.96%, + 11.65% and + 5.79%.
On the other hand, MED PAPER (-13.83%), FENIE BROSSETTE (-7.90%) and STOKVIS NORD AFRIQUE (-6.54%) showed the biggest drops. With a transaction volume of more than 142.08 MDH, ATTIJARIWAFA BANK was the most active instrument of the week grabbing 20.07% of transactions, followed by COSUMAR with 96.36 MDH (13.61%) and BCP with 94.8 MDH (13.39%).
