Funny legacy that of the new Communal Council of the city of Casablanca. He found himself indebted to a large one that he will be obliged to pay to the two companies responsible for the management of household waste collection ARMA (formerly Derichebourg) and AVERDA.
It is an exceptional situation inherited from the management of the former municipal council headed by the PJD and that the people of Casablanca no longer want to relive. Indeed, the economic capital had experienced a similar situation, three years ago when the Communal Council had stopped honoring its commitments to the management companies of this same service, one Moroccan and the other Lebanese. The same situation arises with the advent of the new team led by Mayor Nabila Rmili. In order to put an end to this “conflict”, the latter is therefore preparing to relieve itself of some 500 million dirhams in order to prevent ARMA and AVERDA, on the verge of bankruptcy, from sinking. Indeed, these two companies which ensure the delegated management of garbage collection have not yet been paid by the municipality, and this for almost a year, which makes the metropolis fear yet another household waste management crisis.
The problem is that the sum released by the new City Council would barely be enough to cover the expenses incurred by the two companies during this period of “unpaid”, but which should still allow them to improve their situation. towards the banks which they do not spare them. Admittedly, last August a deposit had been advanced according to a source who confided in MoroccoLatestNews. But, it is true that the two managers of household waste collection are still waiting to see 160 million dirhams each coming, just to settle this affair once and for all and allow the new management team of the City Council to to be able to hold responsible the delegates of this refuse service in the event of non-performance of the tasks which have been unduly upon them.
In this regard, Moulay Ahmed Afilal, Deputy Mayor of Casablanca and delegate for this sector precisely, told MoroccoLatestNews that “The City Council was not only responsible for assuming its responsibility by discharging the liabilities towards the two companies, but in addition, to pay them in the future on the basis of a monthly payment in order to avoid the accumulation of debts “. MoroccoLatestNews has also learned that meetings are organized regularly between officials of the City Council and officials of the two companies in order to achieve a way out of the crisis.
According to other languages, worse these, it is rumored that the extension promised by the Municipal Council would not, in fact, be settled until the month of March. The two delegatees who reproach the delegator, namely the council of the city of Casablanca, for not having fulfilled its obligations towards them, indicate that each time the city of Casablanca does not pay them and they are in the ‘inability to contract loans and suddenly pay their thousands of employees.
This affects their work, delays the monthly wages of their workers, which causes social protest movements, and consequently the spread of waste in the city. Snowball effect, the Casablanca residents will then face the decline of waste collection services in the city, at a time when the authorities concerned are supposed to undertake more efforts to meet the expectations and aspirations of citizens. .
