CAN Women: The allocation increased to 150%

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) had promised it and it kept its promise. Prize money for the Africa Cup of Nations feminine TotalEnergies, Morocco 2022, has been raised by 150%. It goes from 975,000 to 2,400,000 US dollars.

It was CAF President Patrice Motsepe who made the announcement from Rabat where he had arrived earlier in the day to attend the opening ceremony of the Women’s CAN, which is being held from July 2 to 23. in Morocco.

Thus, the winner of this edition will pocket the sum of 500,000 USD, against 200,000 USD previously.

For its part, the financial allocation for the finalists has almost doubled, going from 175,000 to 300,000 USD, while the semi-finalists will receive 225,000 USD each (instead of 125,000 USD).

The tournament kicks off this Saturday at 9:30 p.m. local time (8:30 p.m. GMT) with the opening match pitting hosts Morocco against Burkina Faso at the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium in Rabat.
