Liberian President George Weah, also a big name in African and world football, has clearly expressed his support for Morocco’s bid to host the 2025 African Cup of Nations (CAN).

The President of the Republic, Dr. George Manneh Weah, has described as false and misleading the reports making the rounds of certain international media according to which he supports Algeria’s candidacy for the organization of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). in 2025, says the text.

To add that the Liberian leader has already expressed his “full and strong” support for the Moroccan candidacy, which he again stressed to the Moroccan government.

“Liberia approves and fully supports Morocco’s bid to host the 2025 CAF Nations Cup. I made this commitment to King Mohammed VI. It’s set in stone,” Weah made clear.

In this sense, he said “having already started campaigning for Morocco with football players across the continent”.

According to the President of Liberia, Morocco has made and continues to make remarkable investments in football development that deserve a chance to host Africa’s biggest football party.

As a reminder, Morocco announced its candidacy after CAF deprived Guinea of ​​its rights to host the tournament. In addition to the Kingdom, Algeria, Zambia and the Nigeria-Benin duo are also candidates for the organization of the competition.

The verdict should be given on February 10 on the sidelines of the Morocco 2022 Club World Cup (February 1 to 11), even some sources have mentioned an announcement in Cairo.
