The Confederation of African Football (CAF) decided on Sunday to postpone the African Cup of Nations (CAN), initially scheduled for June 23 to July 23, 2023 in Côte d’Ivoire, to January-February 2024.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe announced this decision at the end of the meeting of the executive committee of the African body held in Rabat, on the sidelines of the Women’s African Cup of Nations (Morocco-2022), opened on Saturday. .
“I have to tell you that I am so proud of the good work done by Côte d’Ivoire, with excellent progress. The main problem here is basically the rain, the weather. This is the one and only reason why the CAF Executive Committee has decided to move CAN to Côte d’Ivoire in January/February 2024,” he said at a press conference.
