The captain of FC Barcelona and the Spanish team, Sergio Busquets announced on Wednesday that he will leave the Catalan club at the end of the season.
“The time has come to announce that this season is my last with FC Barcelona”, the 34-year-old says in a video on his social media.
The midfielder, who will turn 35 on July 16, leaves the team of his life with 31 titles. He is currently on his way to a ninth league title, with Barcelona 13 points clear of runners-up Atlético Madrid with five games remaining.
In fifteen professional seasons with the club, Busquets won, in addition to the 2009, 2011 and 2015 Champions Leagues, eight Spanish league titles, seven national cups and a few other trophies, including three club world cups.
He is also world champion (2010) and Europe (2012) with Spain.
For his future, the Spanish sports press evokes the possibility of a transfer of Busquets to Saudi Arabia, where already evolves Cristiano Ronaldo, who would probably be joined by Lionel Messi next season.
