Bundesliga: Bayern Munich sign Matthijs de Ligt for 5 years

Bayern Munich have announced the signing of Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus Turin for five years, until 2027.

The German champion thus strikes a new blow on the transfer market after the arrival at the end of June of the Senegalese Sadio Mané from Liverpool.

For the president of the Bavarian club, Herbert Hainer, “Matthijs de Ligt was one of our main targets. With signings like this, the big goals we have are achievable (…) de Ligt should become a mainstay at FC Bayern”.

The amount of the transfer has not been disclosed but according to the German press, it should be around 70 million euros, with bonuses of up to 10 million additional.

This would make the Dutchman the second most expensive transfer in the club’s history after the 80 million euros paid in 2019 for France international, Lucas Hernandez.
