An 8-year-old boy in Bolivia was hospitalized after he allowed a black widow spider to bite him in the hopes of developing superpowers.
The incident occurred late last month in the town of Vichuloma. The boy was playing outside when he found a black widow under a rock. Recalling Spider-Man’s iconic origin story, the 8-year-old decided to allow the spider to bite him in the hopes of becoming Spider-Man.
The boy’s mother said she was shocked by her son’s actions and that she had no idea he was planning to allow a spider to bite him. She said she is grateful that he is alive and that she hopes he will learn from this experience.
