US Secretary of State Antony Blinken hailed, on Friday in Tangier, the efforts of Morocco and the “Aladdin” project to build bridges between cultures and fight against racism and fanaticism.
In a video message broadcast during the inaugural session of the “Tangier Dialogue” organized by the “Aladdin” project in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad and the Alliance of United Nations Civilizations, Blinken paid tribute to the Moroccan government and the “Aladdin” project for their role in building bridges between cultures and in the fight against all forms of racism and fanaticism.
The American Secretary of State stressed on this occasion the importance of the “Tangier Dialogue” in terms of strengthening understanding between the West, including the United States, and the countries of the Muslim world.
Forging strong relations between the West and the Muslim world can serve as a “driving force” for positive change and a “solid foundation” for resolving several crucial issues for the region, notably the maintenance of peace in conflict zones and the strengthening economic opportunities with a view to consolidating freedoms for people of different faiths and facing the consequences of climate change, including water and food insecurity, the US official said.
The US Secretary of State also called for programs and policies to be put in place to ensure development and contribute to a safer, more peaceful and more prosperous world for new generations.
Morocco is one of the founding countries of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations in 2005 and of the “Aladdin” project which was launched in 2009.
