Benmoussa meets with parents’ associations

The next school year and the results of the 2022-2023 school year were at the center of a meeting, Tuesday in Rabat, between the Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa and representatives of associations parents and guardians of students.

Speaking on this occasion, Benmoussa noted that associations of parents and guardians of students are essential partners in the work of reforming the education system, highlighting the important roles played by these associations which are called upon to contribute more to the implementation of the 2022-2026 roadmap, in order to create a new dynamic in the management of educational establishments.

In this sense, the Minister recalled the strategic objectives of this roadmap, which concerns the areas of basic learning, extracurricular activities and the fight against school dropout.

In his presentation on the main new features of the 2023-2024 school year, Benmoussa mentioned the “pioneer schools” project, which will be deployed, from this start, in 630 schools and which will benefit 320,000 students supervised by 11,000 teachers in the perspective to generalize it on a national scale.

Benmoussa also discussed the educational support project according to the “TaRL” approach (Teaching at the Right Level) which was launched this year, with a view to its generalization in all the regions and schools of the Kingdom, as well as the “project of ‘integrated institution’.

In this regard, he emphasized the efforts made by his department in terms of teacher training, upgrading spaces within schools, encouraging teaching staff and supporting students to improve their abilities, adding that his department is also working to expand the scope of teaching the Amazigh language, strengthen language teaching and continue the generalization of preschool education.

For their part, representatives of associations of parents and guardians of students welcomed the measures adopted by the ministry to improve the quality of education and meet the challenges facing the sector.

They also underlined the importance of the communicative approach adopted by the ministry in order to involve the various stakeholders in the optimal implementation of the objectives set, while mentioning the constraints and problems encountered by the sector.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the National Federation of Associations of Parents and Guardians of Students, the National Council of Elected Representatives of Associations of Parents and Guardians of Students, the National Confederation of Associations of Parents and Guardians of Students in Morocco and the Moroccan National Federation of Associations of Parents and Guardians of Students.
