The Secretary General of the Justice and Development Party (PJD), Abdelilah Benkirane opened, yesterday Saturday, February 19, 2022, the work of the National Council of the PJD, held in Bouznika. He made himself the lawyer of Aziz Akhannouch, he evoked the soaring prices and did not forget in his blabla of circumstances his usual clowning to amuse the gallery.
On the other hand, he was unfortunately unable to dissipate the apparent uneasiness that was felt during this event in front of the members of the National Council of the PJD, meeting in ordinary session on February 19 and 20. The luminaries of this party having shone by their absences, must have been there for many in this atmosphere like Saad Dine Otmani, the former secretary general of the party, Lahcen Daoudi, Aziz Rabbah, Jamila El Moussali, Abdelkader Amara , or Mustafa Al-Ramid (political retirement) to name only the former members of the former executive. We will in no way overshadow those who have chosen the same path and who usually were generally active as “ants” working behind the scenes of this party which for a decade will have been, all the same the head of the management of the political thing of the Kingdom.
All these fine people deliberately chose to avoid Benkirane, who reproached the former general secretary throughout his speech for the main part of the crushing defeat of the PJD in the elections of September 8th. Sources told MoroccoLatestNews that the party still has not recovered and the repercussions are still being felt. However, this good old Benkirane does not seem to do tons and its apparent generosity loses all its luster when we stop at the details. So we are told “Benkirane made the decision not to hang on or make do with the leaderships of yesteryear» and in this regard, our well-established source at the PJD said that for Abdelilah Benkirane «everyone is welcome, and whoever wants to hide their face or withdraw is free. If they (the refractory ones) are not satisfied with my own reflection and if they are not satisfied either with the general secretary, they leave“.
In addition, Benkirane, in his commentary on the interventions of some members of the National Assembly, reiterated the centrality of the royal institution in the Moroccan political system, underlined that political decision-making in Morocco has its particularities, emphasizing that the government is only part of an integrated system directed by the king. Benkirane called on members of his party to be aware of this fact, noting that Morocco is completely different from countries in the Middle East, stressing the importance of clinging to the Islamic reference. Benkirane considers that the Moroccan model remains a reference in an unstable regional climate of political tensions and democratic decline. Allusion made to Tunisia which, despite the spring 2010 revolution which overthrew the regime of President Ben Ali, is not making it.
Our same sources within the PJD revealed to MoroccoLatestNews that the National Council of the party made changes and elected or between Saturday evening and Sunday new leaders. This is how Saïd Khairoun was elected director general of the party, to succeed Abdelhak El Arabi, former director general of the PJD and president of the central election commission, who had resigned. Aziza El Bakkali, former president of the Al-Zahra Forum, was also elected president of the National Arbitration Commission, succeeding Rachid Lamdouar. Reda Boukmazy was elected member of the general secretariat of the party, replacing Naoufal Naciri, who had previously tendered his resignation.
