The Head of Government, Aziz Akhnnouch went to Marrakech to chair the 3rd meeting of the National Steering Committee for the organization of the annual general meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, scheduled for Marrakech next October,
These general assemblies should welcome 14,000 high-level participants, including ministers of economy and finance and central bank governors from the 189 member countries.
Aziz Akhannouch paid a visit to the spaces to host future events, in order to find out on the spot the progress of the preparations and to ensure the capacity of the infrastructures put in place to welcome the participants in the best conditions.
The Head of Government highlighted on this occasion the influence now acquired by the Kingdom by hosting renowned world events, recalling the achievements that have been made in terms of infrastructure and structuring projects, under the enlightened leadership of King Mohammed VI.
Mr. Aziz Akhannouch underlined that the choice of Morocco to host a world meeting at the level of the annual general assemblies of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, which are held every three years in a different continent, reflects the particular interest that the international financial institutions grant to the Kingdom, noting that this event offers Morocco the opportunity to make the voice of the African continent heard by the international community, indicates a press release.
The Chief Executive called on the parties concerned, ministerial departments and local authorities of the city of Marrakech, to deploy all the necessary efforts to ensure the success of this important event and to guarantee the best conditions for welcoming participants.
The steering committee meeting was attended by Mr. Abdelouafi Laftit, Minister of the Interior, Mrs. Nadia Fettah, Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Khalid Ait Taleb, Minister of Health and Social Protection, Mrs. Fatim Ezzahra El Mansouri, Minister of National Territorial Development, Urban Planning, Housing and of the Social and Solidarity Economy, Mrs. Laila Benali, Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Mr. Mohamed Abdeljalil, Minister of Transport and Logistics, as well as Mr. Abdellatif Jouahri, wali of Bank Al Maghrib, Mr. Karim Kassi-Lahlou, wali of the Marrakech – Safi region and governor of the prefecture of Marrakech, Mr. Fouad Yazourh, Ambassador Director General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, and Mr. Adel El Fakir, Director General of the Moroccan National Tourist Office.
These annual meetings will be structured around six main themes, which are financial and digital inclusion, sustainable development, reforms of international financial institutions, entrepreneurship and innovation, social safety nets and tolerance and living together.
The meetings of the World Bank Group – IMF constitute an annual meeting which brings together high-level international economic and financial operators, with a view to proposing solutions to the challenges of the future.
