ASMEX mobilizes the partners of the “Smart Port Challenge” project

Following the success of its first edition, the National Ports Agency and the National Single Window for Foreign Trade PORTNET in partnership with the Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation, are preparing to launch from September 1, 2022, a new edition of the Hackaton called “Smart Port Challenge“.

In this context, the Logistics Pole of ASMEX chaired by Abdelaziz Mantrach organized a meeting, in hybrid mode, in the presence of the President of the Association, Hassan Sentissi El Idrissi, and all the port stakeholders and actors in order to mobilize around this innovation process, explains ASMEX in a press release.

This process aims to smooth the flow of goods passing through the ports, reduce the waiting time for ships in the harbor, facilitate foreign trade procedures, and others, specifies the same source.

The speakers were thus unanimous on the development and the evolution recorded by Morocco in terms of transit-time during the last years, calling for the multiplication of efforts to accelerate this dynamic in order to reach the levels of the best ports in the world.

This development, continues ASMEX, can only be achieved through the overhaul and optimization of port processes by taking advantage of innovation and collective intelligence.

Inspired by successful global experiences, the Association explains that the Hackaton approach launched by the ANP and PORTNET, aims to respond to the various challenges of the port sector through the emergence of creative and innovative solutions by calling on collective intelligence. of the port ecosystem in order to create the appropriate conditions for smart ports (SMART PORT), through the coordination of the actions of the various stakeholders to provide practical solutions to the needs of port users.

Aware of the challenges and challenges of Moroccan exporters to meet the expectations of their customers, ASMEX, through its logistics division, is committed to injecting momentum into this innovative process through its commitment to offer a platform for discussion and debates around new practices aimed at improving foreign trade procedures in general.

“The commitment of all the port partners present at this meeting (Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Administration of Customs and Indirect Taxes, ONSSA, Morocco Foodex, MASCIR, etc.) for this Hackathon project constitutes a step forward for develop solutions aimed at improving the economic and logistical performance of Moroccan ports and reducing their environmental impact“, says ASMEX, before concluding that the Challengers will be awarded at the end of September 2022 on the sidelines of the Conference and International Exhibition of Single Windows, which will be organized in Marrakech.
