The Foundation for the Safeguarding of Cultural Heritage of Rabat chaired by Princess Lalla Hasnaa in partnership with the International Council of Monuments and Sites MOROCCO (ICOMOS) and the Regional Academy of Education and Training (AREF) of Rabat-Salé – Kénitra organized at the regional center for artistic and literary development of Rabat the closing ceremony of the initiative “I draw my heritage”.
This ceremony saw the delivery of certificates for the 400 participating students and the delivery of drawing cases to the 50 winning students of the artistic competition.
“I draw my heritage” is a citizen action which aims to raise awareness among children aged between 6 and 12 of the historical values of the city of Rabat through artistic creation. This operation, initiated on the sidelines of the celebration of the International Day of Monuments and Sites commemorated each year on April 18, also consists of the organization of an artistic competition.
An artistic workshop was organized in May to strengthen artistic techniques. The 400 participating schoolchildren submitted creations reflecting their vision of the architectural and urban cultural heritage of Rabat.
This initiative aims to instill in young people the importance of knowing and safeguarding our heritage. It also aims to stimulate the imagination and allow schoolchildren to discover, under the guidance of their teacher, the richness of the heritage.
The schoolchildren carried out research on the cultural heritage of Rabat, its components, its monuments and sites. The artistic achievements of the students will be exhibited during the month of December at the Regional Center for artistic and literary development of Rabat and they are available in virtual exhibition on the website of the Foundation for the Safeguarding of the Cultural Heritage of Rabat: www.fspcrabat.ma
