From September 21 to October 8, Alaa Eddine Aljem will present her film “The Miracle of the Unknown Saint” in the theaters of the French Institutes of Marrakech, Casablanca, Rabat and Meknes in the company of actor Anas El Baz, to meet and discuss with the public.
The critically acclaimed film, which premiered at Cannes International Critics’ Week 2019, tells the story of a young man, Amine, who hides in the hills in an attempt to escape the police after having stolen a large amount of money. Then, he buries the sum of money in a hole which he passes for a grave before being arrested.
Ten years later, on his release from prison, he discovers that the hiding place where he had hidden his booty has been transformed into the tomb of the “Unknown Saint”. The place of pilgrimage is now the main economic activity of the surrounding village. Amine ends up settling there, to try to recover his money.
The film stars Younes Bouab (in the role of the main character), Anas El Baz (who plays a country doctor), Hassan Badida, Salah Bensalah and Bouchaib Essamak.
