The French Institute of Morocco (IFM), in partnership with Crédit du Maroc and Jawjab is launching the 8th edition of the national Ana Maghribi.a short film competition. Young people under 30 are invited to shoot a short film of less than 90 seconds on the theme “Women in the Future: Imagining Equality”.
Candidates have until November 28 to submit their videos on the website www.concoursanamaghribi.org. They will be judged by a jury made up of film and audiovisual professionals chaired this year by the Franco-Moroccan director and screenwriter Sofia Alaoui, known for the film Quelle fait si les bêtes meurent, César for best short fiction film 2021. , informed the IFM, noting that five prizes will be awarded: three Jury prizes, Crédit du Maroc prize and Institut français du Maroc prize.
New edition, new theme
This year, the Ana Maghribi.a competition invites young people to reflect on the theme “Women in the Future: Imagining equality”. They will be able to explore this notion from a personal and subjective point of view.
“Women in the Future” invites everyone to break with codes and appropriate the future through an anticipatory narration to think about gender equality and denounce the inequalities that threaten the balance of our societies. tomorrow. Go in search of new universes to highlight the violence of our daily life, to question the framework of our societies.
Dystopia or Utopia, it is up to the participants to choose: to evoke inequalities through stories, it is to speak about our present, about what is likely to happen to better alert the conscience; to dream of equality is to highlight what needs to be changed. “Women in the Future” invites us to think about and build a fairer reality through the imagination.
A jury of professionals will assess the quality of the films
After producer and director Mouhcine Besri last March, it is now director and screenwriter Sofia Alaoui to chair the jury. At his side, we will find the interpreter Meryem Aboulouafa, the actress Oumama Ouaghou, the deputy general manager of JawJab Younès Lazrak and the communication director of Crédit du Maroc Mouna Benrhanem. The jury will award several prizes to the most creative and original videos.
Participation criteria
The Ana Maghribi.a competition is open to young people under the age of thirty, enthusiasts or amateurs of videos. Participants will make a 90-second video in the format of their choice to upload to the www.concoursanamaghribi.org platform until November 28. The idea expressed in the film will be the first selection criterion, the production and technical quality will be taken into account in a second step. As a reminder, 60 films were
sent during the 2021 edition of Ana Maghribi.a from all regions of Morocco. 5 prizes were awarded to the winners during a ceremony organized at the French Institute in Casablanca.
It should be noted that the Ana Maghribi.a international short film competition, launched in 2014 by the IFM, was created to provide a space for free expression and creativity for young people without constraints of means.
