A major trafficking operation involving 100,115 ecstasy-type psychotropic tablets was foiled on Thursday by national security elements from the police station in the town of Zaïo.
A press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) indicates on Friday that this large shipment of ecstasy was carefully concealed in the trunk of a light car registered in Europe.
Pursuant to the instructions of the competent public prosecutor’s office, the driver of the car in question was placed in police custody to elucidate all the circumstances and ramifications of this affair and to identify all the persons involved in this major attempt to traffic in psychotropic drugs from from Europe to Morocco, notes the same source.
This significant operation is part of the sustained efforts made by the national security services to neutralize the danger emanating from international criminal networks active in drug trafficking from European countries to Morocco.
