Amine Harit is currently having a difficult first season with Olympique de Marseille. After a thunderous debut, the Moroccan international experienced a slowdown, very little requested by his coach. A situation that raises many questions about his future with the Phocaeans.
The Atlas Lion joined OM this summer, on loan from Schalke 04, after the latter’s relegation. However, the former FC Nantes was far from imagining the difficulties he would encounter to earn a place in the team.
Indeed, the 24-year-old attacking midfielder has failed to convince his leaders so far. Playing very little under Jorge Sampaoli for a few months, the Moroccan said he was frustrated by his current situation.
“It’s frustrating, it’s hard, I’m not going to say the opposite. I want to play. But the coach has choices to make, there are plenty of criteria that come into play. If on top of that, it didn’t go well, I would have dropped the case. But having guys who make you laugh, cheer you up, helps. It’s a personal frustration but the matches are won.”he explained in the show Match Goal.
Harit is currently under contract with the German formation until 2024, and was loaned without an option to buy at OM. Asked about his future, the Moroccan player hopes to win a title with the Ligue 1 giants and does not know where he will be next year.
” The Conference League would be something that would make me extremely happy. To have won something with Marseille. I don’t know if I will be there next year and the following seasons. With the good year that we are going through… Not even at the football level because I don’t play a lot, but humanely. It would be nice to put a little icing on the cake,” he added.
Harit hopes to have his chance to prove that he has his place in the team when OM challenge Qarabag on Thursday in the Round of 16 first leg of the Conference League.
