Algeria has communicated its response to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) concerning the condition of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), to participate in “CHAN 2023” in Algeria, namely the opening of its airspace for the direct displacement of the national team of local players.
According to a well-informed source who confided in MoroccoLatestNews, Algeria refused the request made by the FRMF to CAF, the body responsible for football in Africa.
Note that Algeria announced the color last Wednesday. Indeed, the head of the organizing committee of the competition, Rachid Oukali, had indicated during a press conference that “the specifications of a sporting event such as the African Championship of local players stipulates that the The host of the competition has the obligation to secure the movements of the delegations of the participating countries” on the national territory as well as the movements from the capital to Constantine, Oran or Annaba.
“There is no direct air link obligation,” he said, explaining that “the majority of participating teams will have to make stopovers”.
As a reminder, the president of the FRMF, Fouzi Lekjaa, had affirmed that Morocco will boycott the CHAN (January 13-February 4, 2023), if the specifications of the competition are not respected.
As such, the reception of the participating teams is an essential condition for the FRMF which requires that the national team under 23 can go to Constantine by a direct flight from Rabat on board a Royal Air Maroc plane. (RAM).
